RTX 4000 SUPER Graphics Cards Rumoured for January Release

For a number of weeks, there has been plenty of speculation surrounding NVIDIA’s plans to release ‘SUPER’ variants of their RTX 4000 series GPUs. These rumours have been backed by a number of leaked documents, which suggests the RTX 4070 SUPER, RTX 4070 Ti SUPER, and RTX 4080 SUPER will be released throughout January 2024.

According to a multiple sources, the leaked documents state that NVIDIA are planning to unveil these graphics cards at CES 2024, in which they’ll conduct a presentation that offer details on the upcoming releases. From here, the documents imply that NVIDIA are set to roll out the cards one at a time, starting with the RTX 4070 SUPER. This card is rumoured to release on the 17th January, with the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER following on the 24th January, and the RTX 4080 rounding things up on the 31st January. NVIDIA have already announced a ‘special address’ event for the upcoming tech exhibition, which lines up with the information from the leaks.

As for performance, the specifics of each card haven’t been clearly revealed by the leaks, but early reports indicate the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER will provide the greatest improvement from its predecessor. With a jump up to 16GB VRAM and 8448 CUDA Cores, the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER certainly looks like a strong upgrade on paper. Obviously, the RTX 4080 SUPER and RTX 4070 SUPER are also set to provide improvements, with increased CUDA Cores being the main area of development.

It’s safe to say that NVIDIA’s RTX 4000 series hasn’t had the best reception. As more SKUs have been released, criticism surrounding the pricing of these cards grew, with AMD’s Radeon 7000 series being considered much better value. However, it seems as though NVIDIA are looking to rectify these errors by unveiling ‘SUPER’ variants of multiple RTX 4000 series GPUs.

What’s most surprising about the rumoured releases however, is the cards in which NVIDIA have decided to upgrade. Out of all the RTX 40 series card currently available, the RTX 4080 and RTX 4070 are among the better options, with the budget-oriented cards like the RTX 4060 and RTX 4060 Ti arguably being more in need of an upgrade. We’re sure that NVIDIA will have plans to release more ‘SUPER’ models down the line, but it will be interesting to see how these cards are received if the rumours end up being true.
