Z790 motherboards are pretty expensive as a general rule. Although Intel’s 13th-Gen CPUs come in at a pretty reasonable price points, their motherboards haven’t particularly followed suit, especially the overclockable chipset motherboards. This means that a lot of those awesome features, such as widespread PCI-E 5.0, WiFi 6E, and high speed USBs aren’t as widely available, which is a bit disappointing. However, in today’s daily deal we may have found one of the best priced Z790 motherboards on the market right now.

MSI has been a mainstay in the motherboard space for quite some time, and I’d say they are also one of the best manufacturers when it comes to value-proposition, with the vast majority of their boards coming in at a relatively affordable price point versus the rest of the market. Their MPG range of boards in particular are what we’d consider to be mid-range, and can be somewhat pricey at the best of times. But in Newegg’s daily deal, the MPG Z790 EDGE WiFi is sitting at an awesome price right now, of just under $300.

Considering the features on this motherboard, I’d say that $299 is a pretty fair asking price. But what are the features. Well first off, this motherboard is overclockable, all Z790 motherboards are, so if you’ve picked up a ‘K’ CPU, and you’re looking to leverage some more performance, this board is ideal. Also on the overclocking front, the Z790 Edge supports up to 7200MHz speeds for your DDR5 RAM, allowing you to further push performance in both games and workstation applications.

Looking at expansion, the Edge WiFi motherboard offers a PCI-E 5.0 x16 slot, ready for the next generation of graphics cards when they arrive. There’s also a second x16 slot, supporting Gen4 speeds, geared towards those that have SSD expansion cards, such as Intel’s Optane range. On the storage front, there are five Gen4 M.2 slots on this board, yes you heard me – five! This is more than enough for most consumers, and the fact that all of them utilise Gen4 speeds is awesome. Considering how cheap Gen4 drives are at the moment, this is a massive win.

In terms of networking and connectivity, the Z790 Edge WiFi is absolutely jam packed with some awesome options. On the rear, there are a total of 10 USB ports, all of which are USB 3.2 options of some variety. The front IO also provides support for four USB 2.0 ports, along with USB 3.2 Gen1, and USB 3.2 Gen2 in a Type-C format. Networking is also solid too, with the Edge WiFi offering WiFi 6E connectivity, Bluetooth 5.3, and a 2.5 Gigabit LAN port as well. Overall we’re pretty impressed with the Z790 Edge WiFi, as this board is incredibly feature rich versus the rest of the market.

At $299.99 at the time of writing, this feature rich motherboard, offers an excellent value-proposition:
